Azra and Mila in the pocket forest

The forest, the breath of life

In the quiet of the forest, a song rises above the noise of the world. Mila reminds us why we protect life: for everyone who depends on it. When we plant a forest and care for nature, we do it for the lives it sustains: birds nesting in the canopy, bees finding food in blossom, wild animals sheltering in its shade, and people who need clean air and healthy water.

Today, more than ever, planting a forest is a necessity as well as an act of care. Forests hold water in the landscape. They absorb rain and dew, slow their passage through the soil and help replenish springs, rivers and wells. Without that living cover, water runs away more quickly, taking with it the conditions that life needs.

So when you plant a tree, you plant more than a trunk. You plant hope: a home for a bird, food for a bee, shelter for an animal, and cleaner air and water for you and the children who follow. A forest is a song that can last for centuries. It is up to us to keep it alive.

To protect a forest is to protect life. And life is a gift we must not let fall silent.

From your support to a living forest

  1. Make room to growWe prepare new sections on our land as the forest gradually grows towards one hectare.
  2. Native saplingsWe choose a diverse mix of native species suited to the local soil and climate.
  3. Miyawaki plantingWe plant a dense mix in layers, giving different species room to grow together.
  4. Care from day oneFor the first three to five years, watering, mulch and regular visits help the young plants grow stronger.
  5. Follow the storyField notes, photos and video let you see what is happening on the ground.
  6. Stronger with each seasonWe keep checking in as the plants establish and gradually become less dependent on our care.

Protecting what is ours

We choose native species suited to each pocket forest. We are also exploring a separate programme to conserve heritage fruit varieties, with its own sites and planting approach.
